ALAC-IV Celebrates World Refugee Day:
The World Refugee Day is marked on 20th June of each year
across the globe to pay tribute to the millions of uprooted
people, in different parts of the world, who are struggling
to survive in very odd circumstances.
The day is to highlight the real needs and issues of the
refugees around the world. Observing World Refugee Day in
Pakistan has a great significance especially this year when
in addition to hosting of more than 1.2 million Afghan Refugees
it has to face around 2.5 million Internally Displaced Refugees
this year.
Keeping the current scenario of refugees in Pakistan the
responsibility on SHARP as an implementing partner of UNHCR
is far greater than the previous years. Knowing the importance
of the day, the Karachi office made its efforts to organize
a Seminar while marking World Refugee Day on a very relevant
topic “Refugees from Conflict Zones and World’s
Responsibility”.
